Camille is a female African lion (Panthera leo).   She's a little standoffish and grumbly / hissy, but not bad.  I had the few rare short opportunities to scritch her shoulder, it took a while before she'd let me do that.

As I started toward her enclosure, she sighed as if to say "Geez, here he comes with that camera again ... I hate that! ... hmm what can I do to make him go away?"

"Maybe if I go over there ... drat!  There's someone with a camera over there too"

"Ok, go to plan B ... perhaps if I chew on my toys and ignore him he will go away ..."

"Uck, he's still there ....."

"Grr!  OK, I'm going to bite on this toy so hard that I crunch it up, then will he leave??

(Notice here the tail flipping)

"Gad!  He's STILL there ... what is it gonna take?"

"Ahh ... I've got it!  I'll yawn and show him all my sharp teeth.  He'll either think I'm getting really pissed or he'll think I want to go to sleep ... then will he go away?"
